Force on top in fight against anti-nationals: Spl DG

SRINAGAR, May 5: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh today said that anti-militancy operations will be intensified further across Kashmir till last militant is eliminated from the soil.
Singh while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of wreath laying ceremony of three CRPF personnel at RTC Humhama, said that security forces will not shy away from rendering sacrifices for ensuring peace in the region.
Singh said that the militants took undue advantage of civilian movement in yesterday shootout and took shield of them in an orchard during which an unsound youth also lost his life in exchange of fire. He paid rich tributes to security personnel who sacrificed their lives recently.
When asked about whether militants have intensified their attacks on security forces, the DGP said “we have some inevitable measures including strengthening of security arrangements and intensifying of anti-militancy operations across Kashmir.”
He said that the security forces have been asked to be alert across Kashmir, tight security arrangements have been put in place around vital security installations and onwards anti-militancy operations will be further intensified.
When asked how come attacks on security forces happened if security grid had earlier declared Baramulla a militancy free district, the DGP said some infiltrators have succeeded to reach north Kashmir parts and have come in contact with existing militants in Sopore area due to which some intermittent attacks took place.
“The militants who were neutralized in Chanjmulla area of Handwara were chased by security forces for three days. But unfortunately during the fire fight, we lost our five men including two Army officers and sub-inspector rank officer of J&K Police”, he said.
Singh said security forces will not shy away from rendering sacrifices for ensuring peace in the region. “Security forces, for ensuring absolute peace in the region, have to bear losses in the form of killings of its men during anti-militancy operations”, he said.
He emphasized that anti-militancy operations will continue till last militant is alive on the soil. “We will continue to chase the militants till last militant is alive”, he added.
In the meantime, Special Director General of CRPF Zulfikar Hassan, visited the spot of the last evening’s attack on CRPF.
Speaking to reporters at the spot, the Spl DG CRPF said that attacks keep happening in the Valley, but security forces are on the top of the situation in the fight of the forces, which includes Army, CRPF and J&K police, against the anti-national elements. “At times, some instances do take place where our men are martyred, we are sad for that”, he said.
He added that the attack attack was carried out here when the personnel of J&K Police and CRPF were carrying out their duties. “The attack was retaliated with bravery and the gunfight that ensued lasted for at least 20 minutes. During that, 3 CRPF men were martyred. We are investigating the matter and action will be taken against those responsible for it”, he said. “In the cross firing there has been a death of somebody; matter is being investigated”.
