Anuj-Deepak duo wins doubles title; Mohinder claims singles trophy

JAMMU, Apr 30: The pair of Anuj and Deepak defeated their opponents Sajjal and Swapnil in two straight sets by a margin of 5 and 4 points respectively in the final of the inter hostel Badminton Championship played in the Indoor Hall of SMVDU, Katra. The final score remained 21-16 and 21-17.
In singles, Mohinder defeated Ashish in straight sets by (21-15, 21-18).
126 entries from various hostels namely Nilgiri, Vidyanchal, Kailash, Basoli and trikuta were entertained in this event.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports SMVDSB presided over the function as chief guest, while Dr Ajay Sharma, president BSA was the guest of honour.
The chief guest was introduced with the finalists by Capt. Sucha Singh and Ashok Kumar, Sports coaches of the University.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ashok advised the players to play the game and play it well.
He said the organizers of the event under the patronage of Prof SK Jain, Vice Chancellor SMVDU have received overwhelming administrative and moral support during domestic and higher level competitions in this University.
