UDHAMPUR, Aug 21: Approved in 2016, the construction work of girls’ hostel at Chowki Jandrore near yet to start in Udhampur district.
Official sources said that the locals of Chowki Jandrore village of Ramnagar tehsil of district Udhampur had expressed great pleasure after the then Jammu and Kashmir Government in 2016 approved a girl’s hostel at the village at an estimated cost of Rs 254.76 lakhs. Though a board had been installed by the then MLA Ramnagar in 2016 leaving the wave of joy among the people of the area that their daughters will get better education due to hostel facility in the district, yet this joy was shattered after no progress on the project for the last over four years.
Surprisingly, after four years of installing the board at the site, no work has been started as yet. The locals while talking to Excelsior said that not even a single stone has been laid at the site for the construction purpose.
Though the approval for the same took place during the tenure of then BJP-PDP Govt and MLA of Ramnagar RS Pathania, but it seems that the BJP is least bothered on the important issue of its construction.
BJP has left the people of the area disappointing and trust of the Govt among the people has been eroded. The people have appealed the District Development Commissioner Udhampur Piyush Singla and LG J&K (UT) Manoj Sinha to look into the matter to get the long pending issue addressed.
