APS Kalu Chak celebrates Annual Sports Day

JAMMU, Nov 25: Army Public School (APS) Kalu Chak celebrated a two days’ extravaganza with the Annual Sports and Prize Distribution Function ‘Confluence-2016-17’, which concluded here today.
Around1000 students from the school participated in the event. The programme was ushered in by flag hoisting and releasing the pigeons and balloons that sauntered into the azure skies. Next, a spectacular, impressive, and a well synchronized March Past by the four Houses contingents of the Senior Wing students and the Primary Wing students, rendered the spectators, speechless and awestruck.
The chief guest, Brig. Arvind Yadav, Chairman APS Kaluchak graced the occasion with his presence. Reeta Yadav, Chairperson FWO 26 Brigade was the guest of honour.
It was emanated by sports events in which students of classes I to XII  took part enthusiastically viz. Chipping, Dressing Up race, Three Legged Race, Slow Cycling, Banana Race,  Kangaroo Race, Tug of War, 80 Mtrs, 100 Mtrs, 200 Mtrs, 400 Mtrs and Relay Races. Students showcased their unity, understanding and will-power in the various forms of sports activities.
School Principal, Hem Lata Vishen, presented the annual report, which epitomised the skills and talents of students during the academic year.
Cultural bonanza presented by the students involving Zumba,  Dumble drill, Ribbon Dance, Mastogi- do, Judo, Yoga, Gatka,  Sufi Kathak and Bhartiyam was appealing.
Winners under various categories were felicitated for their unparalleled achievements viz. class XII subject and stream toppers, class X students with 10 CGPA, best artists, singers, instrumentalists, debaters, dancers, Scouts and Guides, NCC Cadets and all rounder etc. The Quiz team and the best sportspersons were also awarded for their extraordinary achievements at National level.
Around 400 medals and prizes were awarded to the winners of various events held during the day.
The programme rose to a final crescendo with the grand finale of the show, the foot tapping enthusiastic music and the formation was an eye-catching one.
