JAMMU, Nov 3: An on- the-Spot Inter-School Team Debate Competition was held at APS Kaluchak, organized by ‘Behes’, a non-profit organization formed to spread the message of free speech and debate in schools and colleges around the country.
The aim was to provide opportunity to digital learners and millenniums, how to transit their views, opinion in most organized and convincing manner. An air of zeal was seen among the participants. Every topic given was a challenge for speaker and they geared themselves suitably for their turn to debate on. It is an initiative of its different kind helped students to connect, collaborate and comprehend.
31 teams from 10 schools participated in the competition. 93 contestants were divided into two groups The Lions (age group 14-18yrs) and the Cubs (age group 10-13yrs) .The 2-day event commenced on November 2, 2017 and concluded on November 3, 2017.
APS Kaluchak added yet another feather in its illustrious cap with three budding debaters: Master Prabhnoor Singh , Master Amerinder Singh and Miss Aarchie Arun Mangotra, making their Alma Mater proud as they held aloft a glittering runners up trophy, relishing the glorious moment.
The first position was bagged by APS Samba. Two of the three Lions and six of the ten Cubs of APS Kaluchak were amongst the best 20 speakers, bagging the first four positions.
Aarchie Arun Mangotra of APS Kaluchak was adjudged as the best Cub-speaker of the tournament and Vaishali Taak of APS Jammu Cantt. got the best speaker award amongst the Lions and DPS, Kathua won the winner’s trophy and APS BD Bari was the runners -up in Lions category.
