APS Rakhmuthi celebrates Annual Sports Day

JAMMU, Nov 25: Army Public School (APS) Rakhmuthi celebrated its Annual Sports Day with zeal and enthusiasm, here today.
The chairman of the school was the chief guest, who declared the programme open. The event began with lighting of the torch by the chief guest. Thereafter a well synchronized March Past by the four Houses and NCC Batches of the Junior Wing students rendered the spectators, dazed and astounded.
Shaswati Ghosh, Principal of the school presented the school Annual Report, highlighting the achievements of the school.
The day was emanated by sports events in which students of classes I & II took part enthusiastically in Banana Race, Finding Chocolates Race and Make-up Race for boys and in girls, Classes III to V in Back to Back Balloon Race, Matka Race and Filling the Bottle Race; classes III to XII in 100 Mtrs, classes VI to XII in 200 Mtrs and classes IX to XII in both 400 Mtrs and Relay Races. Teachers and parents also participated in Thread and Needle Race and 50 Mtrs Race respectively. Class-IV employees participated in Slow Cycling Race. Students showcased their talent, vigour and grit in different sports activities.
The other main allurements were Yoga by classes VI-IX, a dance performance on ‘Dil Hai Chota Sa’ by little blossoms of classes I & II, Pyramid formations by the boys and girls of classes III to VIII and another dance by classes III-V ‘Hum Agar Sath Hai’.
The show trod to its pinnacle with the grand finale, the fan-flipping and the formations of the dance were mesmerizing one.
The best mathematician both for senior and junior category were Akshita Sharma (VII B) and Yuvraj Singh Johal (I-A) respectively; class X students who secured 10 CGPA included Anish Choudhary, Lissieux Maria Abraham, Sushant Bhau, Anjali Kumari and Mamta Choudhary; class XII students who excelled in Board Exam were Superya Bhau, Kanchan Manhas and Kirti Devi and winners of various athletic activities were felicitated by the chief guest. Ambedkar House bagged the award for the best performer in various inter-house competitions.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest threw light on the importance of sports and games in one’s life.
Vote of thanks was presented by the Principal of the School, while the day ended with National Anthem.
