Srinagar, June 4: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed concern over the killing of a Sikh youth in police firing in the Gaddhigarh area of the Jammu. The Committee has demanded judicial probe in the incident and immediate suspension of the concerned police officials.
“Every year Sikhs assemble to pay tributes and respects to Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale, who was heading a religious organization namely Damdami Taksal Amristar. This has been going on for years now normally without any interference from outside. The police action is highly condemnable and is an infringement in the religious affairs of the Sikh community,” APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina Said.
“The state government should immediately act on the matter and suspend the police officials responsible for the killing of the youth identified as Jagjeet Singh. A time bound judicial probe should be ordered at the earliest since many other members of the community have sustained injuries in the incident,” said APSCC Chairman.
Raina said that people at helm should handle the affairs in a professional manner so that the after-effects of the incident are stopped not only in Jammu but in other parts of the state. He asked the people to remain vigilant so that the elements hell-bent on disturbing the amity and brotherhood among different communities are taught a lesson.
