Archers of Shrine Board’s Sports Complex win bronze medal

KATRA, Apr 26: The trainees of Shrine Board’s Sports Complex Coaching Centre namely Rakesh Kumar, Jyoti Baliyan and Nisha Devi participated in the 5th Fazza World Ranking Para Archery Tournament held in Dubai, recently. Kuldeep Vaidwan, Archery Coach of the Board accompanied the team as coach.
In the mixed compound event, the Indian team comprising of Rakesh Kumar and Jyoti Baliyan won bronze medal, defeating their rivals from Brazil by 148-145 points.
On the basis of their performance in this tournament, Rakesh Kumar and Jyoti Baliyan will now participate in the selection trials being held at SAI Aurangabad on May 6 and 7, 2019 for the forthcoming World Para Archery Championship to be held in Netherlands in June this year.
Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has congratulated Rakesh Kumar and Jyoti Baliyan and their coach, for the appreciable performance in the tournament.
It is pertinent to mention here that special coaching camps are organised at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex in the various disciplines to impart specialised coaching to the sportspersons.
As a result of the specialised coaching, provision of state-of-the-art equipments and other facilities, the Sports Complex has emerged as a hub of sports and games and the sportspersons groomed and trained at this complex have been showing promising results at various competitions being held at different levels.
