Air India shuttler Arintap Dasgupta scored a double in the boys’ Under-17 category of the All India Junior ranking badminton tournament at JNTU Indoor Stadium here today. He won the singles title defeating fourth seeded Karnataka player Mithun M 22-20, 21-19. Later, partnering Kaustubh Rawat he clinched the doubles title after vanquishing the top seeded pair of Chandra Kumar D and Bodhit Joshi 21-15, 21-11. The host had reason to celebrate as the unseeded combination of Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela annexed the girl’s Under-17 doubles title trouncing fifth seeds, Akshita Bhandari/Diksha Choudhary.
