Arms, explosives haul in Kishtwar

JAMMU, July 26: A joint team of Army and police today achieved a major success in Sinthan region of Pir Panjal ranges in the mountainous district of Kishtwar when they busted a major hideout of the militants and recovered a big haul of arms, ammunition and war like stores.
Official sources said acting on the tip off from sources about the likelihood of a hideout, troops of Delta Force located at Bhandarkut and Kishtwar police launched a massive search operation in jungles of Sinthan region of Pir Panjal mountain today afternoon.
The security forces carried out search of the treacherous mountainous area despite inclement weather and incessant rains for last 36 hours before achieving the success.
The unearthing of the first hideout in this year in Sinthan region resulted in recovery of one AK-74 rifle along with one magazine and 313 rounds, one UBGL, two .303 rifles, two 12 bore rifles, two radio sets, two rockets, two mortar bombs, 38 rounds of SLR rifle and 14 rounds of sniper rifle.
The huge cache of arms and ammunition might have been dumped by the militants inside the cave type hideout to be used at an opportune time, sources said.
