JAMMU, May 27: Security forces today busted a militant hideout and recovered arms and ammunition from the higher reaches of Reasi district.
“Based on specific information, the troops of 58 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police under the aegis of Uniform Force Headquarters Reasi, launched an operation and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in higher reaches of Pir Panjal today,” reports said.
The recoveries include one pistol, two pistol magazines, one bore rifle, two UBGL rounds, 57 rounds of pistol, one portable battery charger, electric wire, a blanket and two knives.
“This recovery is a significant achievement in the Counter Insurgency Operations undertaken in the Gul area of Reasi district,” reports said.
The troops marched over a long distance in inclement weather to carry out the search of the forested area and recovered a cache which was hidden underground.
“The timely recovery of the arms and ammunition has thwarted any untoward incident in the area,” reports said.
