SRINAGAR, Nov 16:
A major tragedy was averted when Army detected and defused two Improvised Explosive Device (IED), each weighing 4 Kgs, in the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara.
A defence ministry spokesperson here said that based on the intelligence inputs, Army carried out a search operation at village Amrui in Tangdhar in north Kashmir district of Kupwara.
During search, Army recovered two IEDs planted near the foot track leading to village Amrui in Kupwara at approximately 0630 hrs today.
The area was immediately cordoned on either side of the track and IEDs were defused, he said. He said a major tragedy was thus averted by thwarting the ill designs of militants, who intended to cause violence and terror. (AGENCIES)
