JAMMU, Mar 15: Annual Northern Army Commander’s Invitational Golf Cup, a rolling trophy, was played at the White Knight Environmental Park & Training Area (WKEPTA), Nagrota, today.
Governor NN Vohra inaugurated the tournament by ‘Teeing – Off’ alongwith Lt Gen DS Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command.
Combined Army & Air Force Team ‘four balls each’ and a combined team of Sher-e-Kashmir Golf Club, Srinagar & Jammu Golf Association played against each other.
Best of twenty cards both the teams were considered to decide the winners. A special ‘putting’ event was also conducted for the ladies.
The winners were the combined team of Army and Air Force who were given the rolling trophy by the Governor.
The other prizes were Best Net Score (Army) – Brigadier PK Sharma, Best Net Score (Civil) – Vimal Bajaj, Best Gross – Group Captain I Bhattacharya, Best Gross Second – Col IS Bhalla, Closest to the Pin – Col Sandhu, Second Closest to the Pin – Major General DK Guha, Longest Drive – Col Dhaiya, Second Longest Drive – Col HS Brar, Best Gross on Sunday – Col Rajiv Chauhan, Second Best Gross on Sunday – Col AS Bajwa, Closest to the pin on second shot – Col Dahiya and Second closest to the pin on second shot – Lt Col Manish Mehta. The Governor was the most spirited golfer.
During the event, the Governor also released two documentaries on Operation Megh Rahat, the recent floods in J&K. These documentaries have been co-produced by White Knight and Chinar Corps.
The Jammu and Kashmir Golf Association presented a memento to the Army as a token of gratitude.
