Army conducts Poonch Football C’ship under operation Sadbhavana

Poonch, Oct 31:  To encourage the youth and their participation in various sports, Poonch Football Championship was organized by 1/1 Gorkha Rifles under the aegis of the Poonch Brigade, here.  The tournament received great response in which 9 Boys teams competed against each other to win the coveted trophy.
Earlier, the championship was inaugurated by Shah Mohd Tantray, MLA,  Distt-Poonch.  All the teams participated and competed against each other with great zeal and enthusiasm and demonstrated exemplary sportsman spirit.
The final match of the Poonch Football Championship was played today at Poonch Stadium between Khalsa Club and Purani Poonch Club who emerged as winners by a solitary goal. The winners and the runners up teams were felicitated by Brigadier NS Brar, Commander Poonch Brigade.  The Commander praised the high standard displayed and the competitive sportsman spirit demonstrated by all the teams.  The occasion was also graced by the presence of Atul Gupta, Addtitional SP and other eminent citizens of Poonch.
Indian Army has always encouraged the youth of the area to hone and show their sporting skills with an aim to shine at the State/ National level.  Organising such sporting events highlights the importance of competitive and team spirit and builds a lasting bond of trust between the Army and the people”, said Brar.
