SRINAGAR, June 27: Army Goodwill School Aitmul, Bandipora in a distinct programme to support the initiative of District Administration conducted two events at the school location.
A poetry workshop was conducted for the children by the expert students of Teach for India Organisation at the school’s activity room. The workshop was conducted by Jigyasa, a student of Teach for India.
Students of class 6th to 8th took part in the workshop during which children sang poems to understand various lessons of their textbooks and day to day activities. Teachers and children took active part in the workshop which was conducted for two hours by the experts.
Along with the workshop experts and students also conducted classes for parents especially mothers to participate in the initiative programme named “Iqra”.
Iqra is the initiative undertaken during the month of Ramazan by the District Administration to give a boost to educate illiterate persons. As part of the programme each student will teach atleast five illiterate persons to write their names and do away with thumb impression.
When the mothers came to pick up their wards in the school that was the time they conducted Iqra. In the next step children will visit houses to carry out door to door campaign and take ahead the initiative.
Army’s local unit 14 Rashtriya Rifles will be conducting the programmes in support of District Administration to give boost to the initiative in far-flung villages of Kudos, Surender and Vewan.
