Army inaugurates T-10 Cricket Tournament

DODA, Feb 13: Indian Army in collaboration with Warrior Sports Club Doda inaugurated 2nd T-10 Warrior Cricket Cup at Sports Stadium, here today.
The event was declared open by Commanding Officer, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion Doda in an impressive inauguration ceremony attended by 18 participating teams and around400 locals.
The sporting event will go on for a fortnight.
Six teams each for three categories including under-14, under-17 and under-19 age groups are participating.
The event is aimed at promoting sports amongst youth in remote villages of Doda to positively engage them.
The chief guest said that cricket binds local population irrespective of caste, colour, creed and religion thus promoting social and communal harmony, adding the event also aims at identifying and promoting local talents at state level.
Tournament is being co-organised by Indian Army alongwith Warrior Sports Club Doda.
Indian Army provided all administrative and logistic support in conduct of the event including prizes, kit and cricket gear.
“Indian Army has revived sports including Kabaddi, Volleyball, Athletics and Cricket as well as the local music in the social fabric of Doda.
