JAMMU, Oct 26: An army jawan was killed after the motor bike bearing number JK0AE-7117 on which he was traveling was hit by a car bearing number UK 14 A 543 while he was crossing the Highway near Dayala Chak to Rajpora this evening.
He has been identified as Sham Lal, 28, S/o Dila Ram of Rajpora in Kathua district. He fell down in a pool of blood, police said. He was rushed to Hiranagar District Hospital by the people where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The three car borne youth fled from the spot in a private bus leaving the car behind. Hiranagar Police has registered a case under relevant Sections of the Law and seized the car said Investigating Officer Gangu Ram.
He said the dead body has been kept in D H Hiranagar and it will be handed over to family tomorrow after postmortem and completion of other formalities.
