Srinagar, Oct 17: Army along with locals in several villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian district planted tree saplings.
A defence spokesman said the people of Zora Manloo, Kathohalan and adjoining villages of Shopian today joined hands with the Army in an ecological drive.
“Scores of saplings of Deodar, Pine and other trees were planted in the collaborative initiative which is bound to bring awareness as also a sense of ownership in the people towards maintaining nature’s balance,” he said.
The Army also optimised on the occasion by enquiring about the wellbeing of the people especially in these times of unrest and assured them of all possible help from the Army, the defence spokesman added.
