SRINAGAR, Sept 2: An Army Major was among four Army men killed in a tragic road mishap in Kalaroos forests in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district where a major operation is going on for past two weeks.
Army sources said that a vehicle (registration number ALS 00B127384E) of Army’s 41 Rashtriya Rifles was on way to Sarkoli forest area when it skidded off the road near Check Mode and fell into a deep gorge early today. An Army Major Inderjeet Singh and 8 soliders were injured in the mishap.
The injured were shifted to military hospital in Drugmulla, Kupwara where four soldiers including the Major Inderjeet Singh succumbed to injuries. Some of the injured belong to Army’s 160 Territorial Army.
Army party was part of the troops who have launched the searches in the Kalaroos forest area against a group of militants. The operation was launched 10 days ago and so far 5 militants and 3 soldiers were killed.
