RAJOURI, Nov 9: An Army officer of Major rank, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his room at the Rashtriya Rifles Camp in Thanamandi area of district Rajouri this morning.
Identified as Major Vinit Gulia, the officer was presently deployed with 38 Rashtriya Rifles and heading a Company of RR Battalion in the higher reaches of Dera Ki Gali (DKG) in Thannamandi Sub Division.
Official sources said that officer believed to have committed suicide by using his service weapon. His orderly, found him dead in his bed during early morning when he went to the officer to deliver him warm water early morning. His rifle was also lying nearby. He ran out and narrated the incident to other officers of the unit. Later, the matter was reported to Thanamandi police.
Hailing from Jhajjar area of Harayana, the officer was married during August last year. The police after performing legal formalities handed over the body to the Unit officers. The police has started investigation.
