JAMMU, Sept 13: White Knight Corps Mountaineering Expedition summited Mount Kang Yatse, atop 21,205 in the Zanskar ranges of Ladakh on September 11, 2017.
The Army Mountaineering team was flagged off by Lt Gen AK Sharma, GOC 16 Corps from Nagrota on 19 August 2017.
The 38 days long Expedition was timed to commemorate the 71st Independence Day and mark the impervious tenacity, unflinching resolve and the never say die spirit of the White Knight Corps.
The team led by Major Varun Joshi, was a rich composition of experience and youth with members having summited multiple technical peaks in the past. The team withstood arduous terrain and extreme weather conditions, negotiating altitudes ranging from 12000 feet to 21000 feet under sub-zero temperatures on a self-contained basis. It reflects the hardwork, training, meticulous planning and never say die spirit of the men who took upon them this challenge to live up to the motto of the White Knight Corp.
The GOC complimented the team for summiting the peak.
