LEH, Dec 15: As part of the effort to promote sports and encourage local sportsmen, Patiala Brigade of the Fire & Fury Corps organised the Durbuk Ice Hockey Challenge at the Durbuk Ice Hockey Rink in Eastern Ladakh, which concluded here.
Undertaken as a ‘Sadbhavana’ initiative, 10 local Ice Hockey teams participated in the competition which was conducted on League-cum-Knockout basis.
Durbuk Shyok Club Red (DSC Red) and Sachukul A teams played the final match, which saw a very keen contest between the two teams.
The final match was eventually won by DSC Red.
The players were felicitated by Commander Patiala Brigade who complimented all the participants for the very standard of skill displayed during the entire Championship.
Indian Army has been actively promoting local sports in the remote areas of Ladakh, with an aim to provide the youth of the region a platform to showcase their sporting talent.
