Army organises Mendhar Cricket Premier League

POONCH, Dec 10: Mendhar Cricket Premier League, being organised by Indian Army, commenced at Mendhar, here today.
About 32 teams of border villages of Mendhar areas are participating in this tournament which is being organised on knockout basis.
The inaugural match of tournament was played between Banolla Warriors and Mendhar Gladiators wherein former defeated the later in close contest by nine runs.
Bhimber Gali Station Commander was the chief guest of the inaugural match. Speaking on the occasion, the Commander encouraged the youth to actively participate in various sports competitions, organised by Army in collaboration with Civil Administration and local societies to create a conducive atmosphere for budding youth.
He also hoped that some of youth may join UT or national teams in the future. “The tournament is testimony of Army’s commitment to provide platform to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, so that they can showcase their hidden talent and channelize their energy in a positive manner,” said Commander.
