Army organises tour for farmers

Srinagar, Nov 17: Army today organized a seven day long tour for farmers of various villages in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district to various agricultural institutes at Srinagar and Jammu.
A defence spokesman said based on the request made by the local population to the army, a total of 20 farmers of Dardpora, Kachama and Pharkian villages were selected for the tour.
“The aim of the tour is to educate the poor farmers on advance farming techniques and expose them to new developments in the field of farming which will help them to increase productivity and quality of their yield,” he said.
He said the farmers will be taken to reputed agricultural institutes like Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture Srinagar, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology Jammu where they will be interacting with eminent scientists and doctors related to the field of agriculture. “This interaction will not only enhance their knowledge base but also expose them to the latest technology being used in the field of agriculture,” he added.
