Army organizes cricket tourney

SHOPIAN, Nov 3: Continuing its efforts to spread peace and harmony and enhance better relation between Army and local people, 44 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion in collaboration with Shopian Youth Club organized a cricket tournament at Shaheed Imtiyaz stadium Batapora, under Sadbhawana, here.
8 teams drawn from district Shopian participated in the tournament.
The teams were provided with all the necessary items of kit by the Army.
Commanding Officer 44 RR, Col Bazad said, “It is an endeavour of Indian Army to provide an opportunity to the youth of Shopian and finetune their skills,’’ said an Army official.
The final of the tournament was played between Shopian Kings and Shopian Rangers today which was won by Shopian Kings by 4 wickets. Prizes were distributed among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
