JAMMU, Aug 19: Army under Operation Sadbhavana organised an Essay Writing Competition at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Dhakar, block Khour, Akhnoor, in which students participated enthusiastically.
The event was organised by Kalidhar Brigade under the aegis of the Crossed Swords Division.
The aim of the competition was to generate interest among children regarding the happenings and developments in today’s world, and in order that the children develop a flair for writing.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Kohal, Principal of the school stated that these types of competitive activities for the children of border areas would surely enlighten them and help their imagination and power of expression to blossom.
While interacting with the participating children, Commanding Officer of the unit, impressed upon them the important role that the students of today, have to play towards the process of nation building in the days and years ahead.
The competition was organised in four groups. Six participants from each group were awarded cash prizes along with Certificates by the Kalidhar Brigade. The Officer representative of Kalidhar Brigade and the Principal distributed the cash prizes and Certificates.
During the competition, the children got a chance to interact with the officers, JCOs and other ranks of the neighboring units, and many among the students showed keen interest in joining the Armed Forces to serve the nation.
