Srinagar, Dec 8: Army today said it organized a medical camp at Pinzur area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district in order to provide free medical assistance to the populace.
A defence spokesman said Medical Officer of Army Camp based in Shopian along with trained medical staff were made available under one roof to provide the free medical checkup as well as free medicines to the local populace including men, women and children.
He said the camp witnessed overwhelming response from the villagers who were very happy to receive the much-needed treatment in a very peaceful environment. A total of 63 men, 42 women and 82 children were provided free medical treatment during the medical camp.
The spokesman said the camp witnessed a grand success as it was beneficial to the local people since medical facilities are not easily available to them due to ongoing recent unrest in the valley since last four months.
“Local populace especially village elders including Panchs and Sarpanchs appreciated the goodwill effort of the Army for well-being of the people. Commanding Officer, Shopian based Army camp and Army doctor assured the public of their continuous support and cooperation in all aspects at all time,” he added.
