Srinagar, Aug 11:Under the aegis of Chinar Corps, Army organized an impressive painting competition on the theme of ‘United Colours of India’ here in the lawns of Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) today.
A Defence spokesman said that the platform provided by the Army to the children to showcase their talent and encourage creativity received an overwhelming response from a wave of enthusiastic, energetic, talented children from all over the Valley. “A whopping strength of approximately 4500 children from 85 Schools lent expression to their love for the nature, their family, friends, country and humanity,” he said.
He said that the amateur children also benefitted from the presence of professional painters and volunteers who added further colour to the event. The event, he said, was organised with the support of Education Department and the logistics, administration and financial support was provided by the Chinar Corps.
“The occasion was graced by Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Subrata Saha besides a number of dignitaries from the fields of art, culture and academics. The GOC complimented all the participants for their inspiring spirit and creativity and expressed hope that they would further build on such artistic pursuits. He assured everyone of the Army’s unstinted commitment towards lending encouragement and assistance to the youth of Kashmir to enable them in contributing in overall nation building,” the spokesman said, adding, that the GOC also conveyed his appreciation for the organisers, HOD, Fine Arts, Kashmir University MA Mehboob and Zonal Education Officer, MA Bhatt for their generous support in making the event a grand success.
