Srinagar, Feb 26: Hundreds of youth today attended a youth engagement seminar at Balliharan which was organized by Army in Zainakote area on city outskirts.
A defence spokesman said the seminar focused on the rampant menace of drug abuse among the youth of Kashmir and employment opportunities available to them.
“The seminar commenced with a welcome song by girl students of the locality. Dr Zahoor, a PG Scholar in the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at Government Dental College Srinagar then delivered the lecture on harmful effects of drug abuse and its detrimental impact on the young generation of the valley,” he said.
It was followed by a lecture delivered by Mudassir Hassan from Infra Structure Leasing and Financing Services where he educated the audience on employment opportunities through projects Himmayat, Udaan,Prime Minister’s Kaushal Vikas Yojna and National Digital Literacy Mission for different educational qualifications, said the spokesman.
“Young students of nearby villages too delivered speech on drug de- addiction. The impact was visible from the enthusiasm for spot registrations where several people enrolled for the various schemes,” he said.
On the occasion, Brigadier SH Naqvi addressed the audience stressing on promotion of sports and education among youth. He also highlighted the importance of hardwork and optimism to achieve success in life.
