Srinagar, Feb 29: Army today said it had organised a ‘youth mela’ (youth fair) at Mantrigam in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
A defence spokesman said the fair aimed at providing focused guidance on various career opportunities available for different age groups and qualifications.
“The initiative received an overwhelming response as over 300 boys and girls alongwith their parents participated in the event. The Sarpanchs, Government officials and teachers of the nearby areas also joined the programme and participated wholeheartedly.
“A team of Army officers including doctors and engineers organised a series of lectures on the job opportunities available in Army, engineering and medicine disciplines,” he said.
The event also provided an apt platform for the youth to freely express their aspirations which they did in a very congenial and friendly atmosphere, the spokesman said, adding that the participants also expressed their hope to optmise on the plethora of employment related information obtained during the event.
