Army, PLA hold meeting in Ladakh, say committed to LAC peace

JAMMU, Jan 1:
Indian Army and PLA of China today held a Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh sector and expressed resolve towards enhancing the existing cordial relations and maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The ceremonial Border Personnel Meeting was held between Indian Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army personnel on the occasion of ‘New Year’ in Ladakh sector of Jammu and Kashmir, Defence spokesman Col S D Goswami said.
The two delegations met on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control in the Chushul sector in Ladakh, he said, adding that the meeting marked an improvement of relations between border troops of India and China and helped to enhance the bonhomie between border troops along the Line of Actual Control.
The Indian delegation participated in the celebrations of ‘New Year’ with enthusiasm and gusto and the festivities included a ceremonial address by both delegation leaders which was composed of exchange of greetings, wishes, vote of thanks and reflected the mutual desire of maintaining and improving relations at the functional level at the border, he said.
Thereafter, a cultural programme showcasing the vibrant Chinese culture and traditional grandeur was organised. (AGENCIES)
