SRINAGAR, Feb 25: On humanitarian ground, Army is providing the much needed relief to the displaced border dwellers, living in different villages along Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of district Baramulla.
As per official spokesman, since February 19, the Pakistan army has exhibited unprofessional cowardice in Uri sector by continuously violating the ceasefire, targeting innocent villagers living along the LoC. The unprovoked firing and indiscriminate mortar shelling has damaged civil houses, he said, adding that in a befitting reply, the Indian Army has retaliated with accurate and heavy fire.
He stated that due to unabated targeting of the local populace, residents of border villages of Balkote, Silikote, Tilawari, Thajal, Churunda, Hathlanga and Batgra have been evacuated to the Government Higher Secondary School, Uri and on humanitarian grounds, the Indian Army has immediately swung into action to provide succor and relief to the displaced villagers.
“Since the commencement of hostilities, Army has expeditiously extended medical facilities to the injured villagers. The local commanders are personally monitoring the safety of the people extending all assistance required. Army has provided relief in terms of food and medicines. Sleeping bags and mattresses will also be made available to the displaced population. This helpful gesture will provide much needed relief to them from the harsh winter”, spokesman informed.
He said that the Army has time and again reinforced their credibility as saviors of the local populace, adding that the unselfish assistance provided at the opportune time has provided much needed relief to the displaced villagers. “Strong, determined and definitive retaliation on the LoC has ensured that Pakistan is yet again punished for the misadventure. Army is confident of establishing peaceful and safe conditions to ensure early return of villagers to their homes”, spokesman added.
