Army rescues 38 stranded passengers

SRINAGAR, Feb 27:  Army today said that they rescued 38 passengers today at Nasta Chhun Pass after they received information that six vehicles from Chowkibal to Tangdhar had stranded at East of Nasta Chhun Pass due to heavy snowfall and ice formation on the road followed by three avalanches.
A statement issued by Army said avalanche rescue team deployed at Nasta Chhun Pass immediately got activated to help the stranded passengers. The team braving all odds moved to the location of the avalanche with the rescue team despite the inclement weather, snow blizzard and night condition.
On seeing, the Army rescue team, stranded passengers sensed a sigh of relief. Thereafter, with the combined efforts of Army and the locals, the road was cleared for the traffic by 1:00 am.  All stranded vehicles and passengers were safely brought to Nasta Chhun Pass.
The stranded passengers were provided with medical care and refreshments by the Army.
The timely and prompt assistance provided by the Army not only rescued these passengers but also ensured that all of them including two ladies and one child safely reached their destination.
Efforts of the Army were highly appreciated by the locals of the area.
