Army sends 11 engineering students on capacity building tour

SRINAGAR, July 20: The Army today flagged off a capacity building tour under Project ‘Hunar’ in which 11 engineering students have been sent to Mumbai.
A Defence spokesmans said that the tour was flagged off by Brigadier Harmeet Singh, Brigade Commander, 619 (I) Air Defence Brigade today at morning at Somgarh Military Station with an impressive ceremony.
“The one month long training under the flagship Project Hunar in collaboration with the reputed automobile company Mahindra and Mahindra in Nasik, aimed at providing them with hands on professional experience will expose them to the practical nuances of automobile industry,” the Defence spokesman said, adding: “theory as well as practical classes featuring repairs, sales and servicing skills to fill the gap between Engineering course and the job requirements of the corporate sector, facilitating speedy absorption in reputed MNCs. Eleven meritorious students were selected from local Engineering Colleges to benefit from this venture.”
During the flagging off ceremony, Brigadier Harmeet Singh said that the participants have tremendous learning potential and ability to absorb the skills that are aimed to be imparted. Highlighting the merits of this tour, Brigadier Singh gave an insight into the positive implications of the venture in helping the youth to weave a future around their capabilities and qualifications.
The Defence spokesman said that this tour will enable these students to build up their soft skills, boost their prospects for higher education and to identify most suitable employment avenues. “The touring students will visit reputed Automobile showrooms in Mumbai to understand the sales aspect as part of training program. On Sunday and holidays, local sightseeing will also be conducted for them,” the spokesman said, adding: “This unique training initiative is part of the 4E module including Education, Engagement, Employment and Empowerment brought into Sadhbhavana since 2014.”
