KISHTWAR, Aug 25: Army showcased a mesmerizing cultural festival titled ‘Unity in Diversity’ at Chowgan ground encompassing performances from the length and breadth of India.
The festival was an amalgamation of cultural programs of various parts of the country and was attended by senior officers of military and civil administration.
During the event, students from schools of Kishtwar participated with full vigor and enthusiasm. The main attraction Kalaripayattu, an ancient marshal arts form of Kerala was performed by the Army team and Yoga and Rope Malkhamb were performed by troupe from Ujjain, which left the crowd fascinated.
The event also had a competition amongst the schools of Kishtwar and the children gave exemplary performances making the competition a close one.
The first prize was bagged by New ERA Public School in which school performed Garba Dance, while second and third prizes were won by Daffodil Model Public School and Little Angels Academy School respectively.
The locals of Kishtwar also displayed their support by turning up in huge numbers. Approximately 8000 locals and 1500 students attended the program. The locals hoped that similar events will be organized regularly.
