Army sponsored T20 cricket tourney underway at KU

SRINAGAR, July 31: An Army sponsored under-19 T-20 cricket tournament is underway in Kashmir University here.
The tournament, which is the joint initiative of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir People’s Welfare Organisation had commenced on July 30 with State’s Sports Minister, Imran Raza Ansari, inaugurating the event.
“The tournament is progressing with zeal and vigour reflective of the spirit of youth in the Valley. Not only are matches being played in their competitive and yet sporting spirit by the players but also being watched by huge cheering, sport enthusiastic crowds,” an Army spokesman said today.
The Final match of Srinagar under-19 Champions Trophy, T-20 Cricket Tournament, will be played at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium on August 9.
“The trophy has been organized by All J&K People’s Welfare Organisation in collaboration with Chinar Corps which aims to spread peace and goodwill in Srinagar. In this tournament, 16 Cricket teams from in and around the downtown area of Srinagar also known as Shahr-e-Khaas are participating and competing for the grand trophy which has been especially designed for this mega cricketing event,” the spokesman said.
