JAMMU, Aug 3: A team of 16 NCC cadets including boys and girls is being given continuous training for National Shooting Championship, which is scheduled to be held from August 22 at Asansol, West Bengal.
The incharge of training team Lieutenant Colonel Monisha SRS is quite confident of the NCC cadets of Jammu Group will do exceedingly well in the National Shooting Championship.
The team is being trained since June this year and was also taken for trials to Ropar, Punjab for specialized practice.
In NCC, the cadets have a golden opportunity to participate in National Games and it is a good motivator for the youths to join NCC.
The training for all these cadets is free of cost and are being trained on specialized weapons such as sporting and deluxe .22 German rifles.
The officer stated, “NCC cadets stand a better chance in such State and National level competitions as we choose best and talented cadets for the competition and train to refine their skills. The cadets are sponsored by the Army and any cadet irrespective of his back ground can afford to participate in shooting competitions which otherwise is a very expensive sport”.
