Art Exhibition held at Goenka

JAMMU, Oct 19: The students of GD Goenka Public School, Jammu governed by Om Prakash Charitable Trust participated in the project ‘Art Forms of the World’ undertaken during the International School Award (ISA).
The students learnt three different Art forms. The first one was the ‘Warli Art’. They researched on the Warli Art and showcased their work that included creating scenes using the basic Mathematical shapes.
The second Art form was ‘Block Printing’. The students made different objects by using Block Printing and the third was decorating earthen pots. Pots were made by the students at the ‘Potter’s hut’ at Goenka. The students then learnt to decorate the pots.
An exhibition of all the three Art forms was put on display for the parents.
The students of classes V to X took part in the project. Beside this Jewellery, Toran, Envelopes, Handmade bags, etc were also put on display.
All these articles were made by the students in their socially useful and productive classes during the school hours.
This project was undertaken by Mamta Suri, the Art teacher and Kesar Patel, the ISA co-ordinator.
Principal, Jyoti Asija guided the teachers and students in the project.
An artist herself she gave useful inputs which motivated the students to perform better. Speaking on the occasion, she said that it gave her immense pleasure to see the students moulding themselves according to the future needs of the country.
