JAMMU, Aug 27: An online art exhibition of the drawings and paintings of veteran artist V S Rahi of New Delhi, organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu, concluded today.
The exhibition was inaugurated on 9th August, 2020. It was organized in connection with the 92nd birth anniversary of New Delhi based veteran artist V S Rahi.
Fifty drawings, paintings and B&W paintings by V S Rahi, in Rajput style painting were displayed in the exhibition which have been an inspiring experience for the artists, art lovers and young artists in particular. The show got appreciation from different corners including art lovers and media.
V S Rahi has been the student of Padamshree Ramgopal Vijavargiyanand, Padamshree Nandlal Bose and others at Vishva Bharti Vishav Vidyalaya, Shantiniketan (West Bengal). He has done Special Advanced Training in Mural along with other trainings in art & craft. His art has been displayed in national and international level art exhibitions held in India, Japan, London, Sarjah, America, Bulgaria and Mexico.
V S Rahi, a leading artist of the country, has contributed a lot in promoting art at various levels. He has been the Advisor of JKCCA, Ex- Vice- President, All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society (AIFACS), New Delhi; Senior Advisor- Art Syllabus Committee, Central Board of School Education (CBSE). He has been writing on art in various journals. He has been awarded with various awards at state and national level by different organizations.
The themes of his paintings and drawings are based on the life, faith and traditional practices in the region. His bold and straight forwardness in statement are quite effective to impress and leave an aesthetical appeal on the viewers. Some of the drawings and paintings have been executed in Wash Tempera technique which he learnt at Shantiniketan.
It may be added that JKCCA is a premier organization of J&K working with missionary zeal for the last twenty one years for the development of Art, Culture & Languages in and outside J&K.
