Art Exhibition ‘Paint Peace’ conducted

SRINAGAR, Sept 18: A two-day Art Competition and Exhibition was organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and Centre for International Relations in collaboration with Save The Children, which concluded today.
The theme of the event was ‘Paint Peace’ that was organized in view of the International Peace Day observed on September 21 every year.
The Competition was held in the University wherein more than 100 students participated. Participants of the Competition were from different departments of Islamic University of Science and Technology, Mantaqui Higher Secondary School (Awantipora) and from some other schools of the valley. The exhibition and the award distribution ceremony held in the University auditorium on September 18.
The drawings were judged by Naushad Gayoor (Faculty member, Department of Applied Art, Faculty of Music & Fine Arts), Mohd Sayeed (Freelance Artist), Shazana Andrabi (Head Centre for International Relations) and Dr. Ruheela Hassan (Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication).
The drawings were categorised in two groups according to the age of the students. In the general category, Muhatar from Department Civil Engineering, IUST got the first prize, Raja Altaf from College of Engineering got the second prize and Barkat Mohammad Mir from Centre for International Relations clinched the third prize. Mehrish Bashir and Maarya got consolation prizes. In the school category, Arfa Shah, Adeeba Jabeen and Farhat Umer got first, second and third prizes respectively.
