68th NSG U-17 (Boys) Football C’ship commences

JAMMU, Nov 30: The 68th National School Games U-17 Boys Football Championship kicked off at Sainik School Nagrota and Khel Gaon Nagrota today with a vibrant opening ceremony.
The event was declared open by Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K, who was joined by Captain (IN) Shibu Devasia, Principal of Sainik School Nagrota Lt Col Amit Sehlot, and other dignitaries. Tara highlighted the importance of sports in building character and promoting unity, urging the players to exhibit the true spirit of sportsmanship.
A total of 760 players from 38 teams across India are competing in this prestigious tournament. In the opening match, hosts Jammu and Kashmir were narrowly defeated by Arunachal Pradesh with a 1-0 scoreline, Ojin netting the winner in the 15th minute.
Other winners on Day-1 included Uttarakhand, who triumphed by 3-0 over Vidya Bharathi; Gujarat defeated Telangana by 4-0; Maharashtra beat CBSE WSO by 2-0 and Meghalaya won by 4-0 against NVS. The match between CBSE and Delhi ended in a 1-1 draw.
The tournament, which runs for several days, has brought together youth from diverse backgrounds, fostering camaraderie and celebrating the unity in diversity that India stands for.
