Arushi wins twin Chess titles as Jammu division selection events conclude

JAMMU, May 6: Jammu division selection events concluded here today, wherein Arushi Kotwal won U-13 girls and also open titles in the U-13 events played today at Ace Chess Academy, Trikuta Nagar, here.
Shaurya Sambyal got second position in open section, while Samriddhi was runners-up in girls section.
In the overall championship, Meenal Gupta won all the three events in which she participated without losing a single game, while Arushi Kotwal participated in maximum number of events and won maximum trophies.
In Boys section, Akashdeep Singh, Soham Kamotra, Vansh Mahajan, Jaiveer Singh, Yaksh Chopra, Shaurya Sambyal and Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah played very thrilling games and they are good hopes for state.while in men section Ritwan Sauntra and Sumit Grover once again displayed their class by winning first two positions.
Taranvir Singh Gujral, vice president All J&K Chess Association and Dr A S Bhatia Advisor distributed the prizes among the winners.
The matches were played as per FIDE Laws of chess and latest International rules.
All the matches were officiated by Sumit Grover, while the matches were played under the supervision of Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association and Joint Secretary All India Chess federation.
The players from these events alongwith selected players from Kashmir division will represent J&K State in the forthcoming Nationals in 2016-17.
