JAMMU, Dec 11: Vijeshwar Panchang (Almanac) for year 2025 -2026 was released by MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta and former Deputy Mayor, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal at Vijeshwar Jyotish Karyalya Gole Gujral in presence of a galaxy of prominent citizens and scholars.
The function was organised by Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan led by its Chairman, Pt Omkar Nath Shastri who is the Sampadak of the Panchang.
Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Gupta highlighted the services of the Jyotish Karyalya of Bijbehara to Sanatan Dharma which is publishing the Panchang now for over last 300 years.
He said the Panchang ties the entire Kashmiri Pandit community into a one string and besides, the Almanac it is a Dharmic Granth also which guides the community about religious festivals, customs and religious rituals.
Arvind Gupta said that he is committed to serve the people with utmost dedication and solve the problems faced by them. He however said that he alone can’t do anything except the cooperation of public. He assured the people that all their issues related to development of the area will be solved as he has taken up them with concerned authorities.
In his address Dharamveer Singh Jamwal said that the development has been the priority of BJP and party legislators are taking all possible steps in this regard.
Pt Omkar Nath Shastri on the occasion highlighted the services rendered by the Vijeshwar Panchang Karyalya to Sanatan Dharma for over last 300 years. He said the Vijeshwar Panchang is the Dharmic granth for the community which links it to its roots and it played a crucial role after the forced exodus of the community.
The function among others was attended by Jyotshi Bushan Lal Shastri, Jyotshi A K Shastri, Dr Sushil Wattal, Kuldeep Raina president Samajik Vikas Sansthan, Bushan Lal Koul president Shiv Temple Committee Ajit Colony, Kamal Ganjoo and others.
