It was disclosed by Brig Anil Gupta (Retd) Member Administration, JKCA in a press release issued here today. “The teams for Challenger Trophy were selected directly by BCCI selectors based on the performance of the players in Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Thakur had performed consistently and scored two half centuries apart from fielding brilliantly,” said Raju Sharma, Head coach of the team.
To be selected for the Trophy is a major boost and will give Arya Thakur an opportunity to rub shoulders with equally talented players from other States, said Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Development.

“My son always had talent but never got a chance to display it. He attended selection camps held earlier but had to return dejected every time. It is this year when fair and transparent trials were held by the newly appointed Sub-Committee to run the affairs of JKCA that my son got the nod of selectors. I am happy that his talent is being recognized,” said Arya’ father Dr KK Thakur.
