ATG holds reading session of play ‘Ishq-Malangi’

JAMMU, Sept 28: Amateur Theatre Group (ATG) today organised reading session of play ‘Ishq-Malangi’ in Punjabi adapted by Khalid Hussain at K L Saigal Hall, here.
The play is based on Khalid Hussain’s two Punjabi stories which was dramatized in Hindustani by Pritam Katoch and directed by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Mushtaq Kak.
Ishq-Malangi has been staged in many National and International Theatre Festivals. Director Mushtaq Kak has directed more than 100 plays in Dogri, Hindi, English and Sanskrit in various parts of country and abroad.
The play portrays a tale of true and unconditional love during the era of 1940s when Jammu City was a small town with red light area named Urdu Bazar having a few houses that were known as Kothas and frequented by the effluents sections of society for their entertainment through music and dance.
This play is a self-abnegation of lovers for the quest of fulfillment of true love that transcends physical love between man and woman that is imbibed in musical way. Several intellectuals and theatre lovers were present during the reading session include Additional Secretary JKAACL Dr. Arvinder Singh Aman, Ravinder Koul, Janak Khajuria, Rajkumar Behroopia and Sudesh Sultanpuri.
