Atul appointed as Chairman AICF Research & Development Commission

JAMMU, Sept 13: Atul Kumar Gupta, the working president of All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA), has been appointed Chairman of the Research and Development Commission of the All India Chess Federation (AICF) during its General Body meeting held in New Delhi. This prestigious nomination is a significant achievement for the AJKCA and Jammu & Kashmir, as Gupta has played a key role in popularizing chess within the region.
Under his leadership, J&K players achieved remarkable success, winning multiple international medals and producing the J&K’s first International Master. He also organized over 130 chess events in J&K, including 19 National-level tournaments and the historic South Asian Amateur Chess Championship.
Expressing gratitude to the AICF, Gupta pledged to devise major developmental plans for chess across all States in India. The AJKCA office bearers congratulated him and appreciated AICF for bestowing such an honour on J&K.
