SRINAGAR, Oct 14: After a historic knock of 255 runs by Shubham Khajuria earlier in the match, right-arm medium pacer Auqib Nabi captured 5 wickets to help Jammu and Kashmir gain a vital 1st innings lead against Maharashtra and earn three points in the ongoing Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium here today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 312/6 in 86 overs, Maharashtra today rode on the overnight pair of Arshin Kulkarni and BS Ghosh to make a partnership of 108 runs, thus taking the score to 420 runs before part-timer Abdul Samad did the trick, trapping Ghosh at his individual score of 47 runs off 163 balls studded with 5 boundaries.
Then Auqib Nabi took 3 quick wickets to bowl the entire team out for 426 runs, thus helping Jammu and Kashmir to gain a first innings lead of 93 runs and earn three points.
Arshin played a brilliant innings of 87 runs off 124 balls with 9 fours and one six.
For Jammu and Kashmir, Auqib was the pick of the bowlers, who took 5 wickets by conceding 100 runs in 35.3 overs, while Rasikh Salam bagged 2 wickets. Yudhvir Singh, Abid Mushtaq and Abdul Samad claimed one wicket each.
For his fabulous batting display, Shubham Khajuria was declared as the player of the match.
