Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Govt lists slew of austerity measures’ DE Oct 26, 2017.
The decision of the Government to maintain financial discipline in the State by taking some steps is more than welcome. This has become necessary in view of various developmental works getting hampered due to financial constraints. The money so saved by taking austerity measures will help the Government meet to some extent the financial requirement of 7th Pay Commission recommendations or execute some schemes for the welfare of masses.
The Government must take advantage of the Government infrastructure like guest houses, auditoriums etc for conducting workshops, symposiums and other activities. There is no need to book private hotels or institutions for such purpose.
It will be in the interest of the State people, in case all Government departments keep a check on wasteful expenditure.
Once austerity measures are taken sincerely, there is no doubt that the State will move on the path of progress quite fast.
Yours etc…
Veer Singh
