SRINAGAR, Sept 4: The Australian National Chemistry Quiz (ANCQ) conducted by The Royal Australian Chemical Institute, Australia, was held in the Department of Chemistry, University of Kashmir, on Wednesday.
In this quiz 42 students of class 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th belonging to various Higher Secondary and High Schools of the Kashmir Valley, participated.
The event was coordinated by Dr Altaf Hussain Pandith of the Department of Chemistry in collaboration with Prof Brijesh Pare, Department of Chemistry, Madhav Science Post Graduate College, Ujjain, India, the national organizer of this quiz in India.
This quiz is an international science event in which students from Australia, Brunei, Canada, England, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua, New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vanuatu, Vietnam and Western Samoa participated.
The primary objective of ANCQ is to promote the study of chemistry in schools by providing an experience to students that is stimulating and enjoyable, thus encouraging them to have greater interest in the subject.
