Automobile Engineering Deptt wins 4th Fazil Abbas Volleyball Tourney

JAMMU, Apr 1: Riding on an extraordinary display of spiking skills by Neeraj Sharma, Automobile Engineering Department thrashed Electrical Engineering Department by 3-0 sets in the summit clash to lift the 4th Fazil Abbas Volleyball Rolling Trophy title at Govt Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, here today.
The tournament which commenced earlier on March 29, 2019, concluded today with 60 players from six departments of the institution taking part in it.
The first set was nail biter as both the teams played superb Volleyball, while in the second set Electrical Engineering Department gave a good fight but the third set was easily won by the Automobile Engineering Department.
Neeraj Sharma of Automobile Engineering Department was supported by Kuljeet Singh in wreaking havoc on the hopes of opponents to win the title. The final score was 29-27, 25-17 and 25-08.
The tournament was played on the name of brilliant student of the college Late Mr. Fazil Abbas, 4th semester student of Architecture Department who passed away on May 4, 2015.
On the valedictory function, Er Arun Bangotra, Principal of the institution was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Er Bangotra laid stress on the importance of sports activities and encouraged the students to participate in sports activities which develop the quality of leadership, sense of responsibility and create the feeling of oneness by working together.
Later on trophies medals and prizes were distributed among the winners, runner-ups, officials and volunteers.
The matches were officiated by Jeet Singh, Pritam Sharma, Jagjeet Singh and Amit Sharma from the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
The Tournament was organised under the overall supervision of Er Rajesh Gupta, HOD (Automobile), Er.Sukhdeep Singh HoD Civil Engg, Dheeraj Angral Lecturer T&T, Guminderpreet Kour and Toshi Devi.
